In 2013, Bruker changed its operational structure to consolidate 10 operating divisions into three new Groups: Bruker BioSpin, Bruker CALID, and Bruker Materials. Bruker was founded in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1961 by Günther Laukien and the company soon became a pioneer in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy. The Company grew substantially in size and scale over the next four decades and expanded its reach into new technologies and markets. Beginning in the year 2000, several of the Bruker operating entities went public, including Bruker Daltonics, Bruker AXS and Bruker Optics. In 2008, all Bruker entities, including the addition of the original Bruker BioSpin Group, were combined to form the company as it exists today.
